SHADOW DAY AT EKA

Event of career education for pupils Shadow Day, organized by practical business educational association Junior Achievement Latvia (JA Latvia), was held in the EKA University.

Young people from Riga, Marupe, Valmiera and Dobele became shadows of the EKA University translators and interpreters. They participated in the discussion regarding following issues: Who is interpreter and who is translator? What does the profession of interpreter and translator consist of? What is daily routine of interpreter and translator? What interpreter and translator should know and be able to do? Pupils practiced written and oral translations, got an overview of professional translation program SDL Trados Studio and translation cloud platforms Memsource and Tilde Terminology.

The EKA University also invited to become shadows of network and computer systems administrator. Young people from Ogre and Riga used this opportunity. During the Shadow Day they discussed such issues as: Who is programmer and computer systems administrator? What should IT specialist know? What is daily routine of programmer and network administrator?
