
The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia approved Oksana Lentjušenkova to the rector position
05.02.2019 The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia approved Dr.oec., Assoc. Prof. Oksana Lentjušenkova, who previously held the position of Acting Rector of the EKA University of Applied Sciences (EKA). The Constitutional Assembly of EKA elected O.Lentjušenkova to the post of Rector for the next 4 years in December 2018. However, in accordance to the Article 17 of the Law of Higher Education Institutions, Rector elected by university has to be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Oksana Lentjušenkova has been working in the field of higher education since 1999 and has a professional experience with HEI management since 2006. O. Lentjušenkova started to work at EKA in 2015, taking up the post of Vice-Rector for educational work, previously being director of Alberta College. In January 2017, by the order of The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia, Oksana Lentjušenkova was appointed to the post of Acting Rector of EKA.
O. Lentjušenkova has a PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Engineering and Management from Riga Technical University, her scientific interests are related to the management of intellectual capital in companies.
The main priorities for the development of HEI will be to improve the quality of the educational process through the development of various digital solutions and innovative teaching methods, as well as the development of science, creativity and life-long education.
In accordance to the Article 17 of the Law of HEI, Rector is the highest official of the HEI, who carries out the general administrative management of the HEI and is allowed to represent the HEI without any special permission, is responsible for the compliance of the university′s work with the requirements of the regulations, signs diplomas, cooperation agreements and all types of administrative documents.
