International students may enter Latvia

According to the decision of the Latvian government on 21 January 2021, international students may travel to Latvia if they meet all the travel restrictions set by the government. When entering Latvia, proof of a negative Covid-19 test must be presented, which must be taken not earlier than 72 hours before boarding the carrier′s vehicle or before crossing the Latvian border individually.

The condition of 10 days of self-isolation is still in force if a student enters from countries with high number of confirmed COVID-19 cases.  All the other epidemiological safety instructions of the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control must be observed.

Please make sure that accommodation which you`ve choose is informed about your arrival and the fact that you need self-isolation and get confirmation from them.

The decision has been taken to provide foreign students with equal opportunities to received high quality education. All studies In Latvia are still carried out remotely.  When studying from their home country, a number of students have not been able to enjoy full access to the study process due to limited internet capacity and the asynchronous nature of communication when residing in a different time zone.
