ERASMUS+ STAFF TRAINING WEEK (STW) 2024

The ERASMUS+ EKA STW2024 International Staff Training Week, hosted by EKA University of Sciences in cooperation with European Digital Learning Network (www.dlearn.eu) took place on September 23-27, 2024. It brought together 19 participants from various EU countries, including Austria, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Spain and Turkey.  Supported by the EKA Scientific Institution, the event named “Designing and Writing Successful European Projects with Artificial Intelligence” aimed to enhance HEIs staff′s (researchers, project managers, representatives of international relations etc) project writing skills.

STW2024 AGENDA

Throughout the week, participants engaged in a series of enriching activities, leaded by Gianluca Coppola, President and Founder of the European Digital Learning Network including followed lectures and seminars:

  • Myths and Facts About Chat GPT: how to use smartly AI for writing and managing EU projects
  • Prompt Literacy: How to create effective prompts to get the best results from the AI’s model
  • Responsible Use of Chat GPT
  • Writing with Chat GPT: how we can engage with the AI to improve the quality of our contents
  • Developing Winning Grant Proposal by the AI tools
  • Writing Winning Grant - The Implementation


STW2024 OUTCOMES

The week culminated with the co-working day, when the participants got an opportunity to write a new brand project using the AI and the notions learnt.

The week also included social activities, such as Riga city tour, the visit to the Black Heads House Museum and the gala dinner in the Michelin Guide recommended hotel and restaurant “Neiburgs”.

STAFF TRAINING WEEK (STW) 2023

The EKA STW2023 International Staff Training Week, hosted by EKA University of Sciences, brought together 34 participants from various EU countries, including Austria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Lithuania, Poland, and Turkey. Supported by the EKA Scientific Institution, the event aimed to enhance academic staff′s writing and research skills.

The week culminated with abstract presentations on topics including:

  • Macroeconomic factors affecting job satisfaction.
  • Skills for high-performing study process: Multiple perceptions on the issue.
  • On the Assessment of the Environmental Pillar of ESG Disclosures: A comparative study.
  • The Trust Barriers in Business Settings in Eastern Europe.
  • Challenges of Climate-related Disclosures in Banking Sector: the Case of Baltic States

 

This diverse range of activities and sessions provided participants with valuable knowledge, skills, and opportunities for academic collaboration.

Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskolas organizētā Staff Training Week 2022 - „Training on Academic Writing and Research Methods" norisinājās Rīgā no 20. līdz 23. septembrim.

STW 2022 programme contained several workshops about research design, research paper structure and an application of research methods. Besides, participants intensively worked in groups on their own research ideas.

STW2022 OUTCOMES

15 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, and Italy worked within research groups mentored by experienced researchers -  Dr. Jelena Titko and Dr. Anna Svirina from the EKA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Dr. Viktorija Skvarciany and Dr. Indre Lapinskaite from VILNIUS TECH (Lithuania).

STW2022 yielded four research idea to work on within the established groups of researchers:

  • NAVIGATING THE “ERASMUS WATERS” OF INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION. A COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN LATVIA, POLAND AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC (Veronika Quinn Novotna (Czech Republic, Inese Rutka (Latvia), Lilit Zakoyan (Latvia), Zane Veidenberga (Latvia)

STAFF TRAINING WEEK (STW) 2021

Staff Training Week “Training on Academic Writing and Research Methods” was organized in September 21-24, 2021 by EKA University of Applied Sciences (Riga, Latvia).

STW 2021 programme contained several workshops about research design, research paper structure and an application of research methods. Besides, participants had the opportunity to meet journal editors and ask the questions about reviewing and publishing process.

STAFF TRAINING WEEK (STW) 2019

September 25-28, the Staff Training Week 2019 " - „Advanced Research and Teaching Methods", organized in cooperation with Alberta College (AK), took place at the EKA University of Applied Sciences and AK. The STW has already become a tradition, since this is the fourth year the event is hold at the EKA and AK.

This year guests had come from higher education institutions of Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Spain, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovenia, Netherlands and Kazakhstan.

During the week of training participants gained practical knowledge of using games in study process as well as the use of various applications and interactive tools in higher education. Professor Joachim Schwarz from German FOM Hochschule acquainted colleagues with the opportunities of R software for statistical methods in social science research.

Of course, guests had a chance to see Riga.

STAFF TRAINING WEEK(STW) 2018

The last week of September, September 25-28, the Staff Training Week-2018 "Digitalization of Higher Education (for academic staff)", organised in cooperation with Alberta College (AK), took place in the University of Economics and Culture (EKA). The STW has already become a tradition, since this is the third year the event is hold in the EKA.

This year guests had come from Italy, Greece, Turkey, Lithuania, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia to complement the knowledge.

During the week of training participants learned the organisation of e-learning, got an overview of Moodle and Big Blue Button (BBB) platforms, which the EKA and AK actively use in the study process, as well as of different applications and interactive tools used for higher education. Participants also expanded knowledge on usage of infographics for teaching. Particularly guests appreciated demonstrated business simulation game developed by the EKA that helps students to understand interaction between the various economic processes. Of course, guests had a chance to see Riga.

Septembra pēdējā nedēļā, no 26. septembra līdz 29. septembrim, Ekonomikas un kultūras augstskolā norisinājās Staff Training Week 2017- „E-learning: Theory and Practice for Beginners” , kuru organizējam kopā ar Alberta koledžu. Staff Training Week jau kļuvusi par tradīciju, jo šis ir otrais gads, kad šāda veida pasākums notiek mūsu augstskolā.

Šogad zināšanas papildināt bija ieradušies viesi no Lietuvas, Spānijas, Islandes un Ungārijas. Apmācību nedēļas laikā dalībnieki apgūs Moodle un Big Blue Button (BBB) platformas, kuras EKA un AK aktīvi izmanto studiju procesā. Ar plašāku pasākuma programmu varat iepazīties pielikumā.
